Thanks for the comment, Pat. This is very true, particuarly if you are presenting to senior level executives, who are used to picking holes in arguments. An upfront, positive approach will always be more effective than trying to hide something that is sure to be picked up on later - when you will not have an opportunity to address it.

Throwing the potential objections out there on the table is always a good one. I went to a business sales training seminar that covered most of what you've mentioned here and that is something that sticks out to me. If you do not address any possible question before you walk out the door then the likelihood of you closing the deal diminishes.

"Ask for the order"... This is SO important. You can give the best sales pitch but if you don't close it out by asking the potential client or customer for their business you've essentially wasted your time with them. Very often sales people miss this and wonder why they do not get the business. Great points overall, thanks for posting.

Thank you for the comment Kim - Is the issue that the hyperlinks upset the reader's experience when they're placed within the text, or were they not noticeable enough? Perhaps this just highlights the difference in reader habits - I know I personally will read an article fully before moving on, but will go back and follow potentially interesting links afterwards.

I like the things you mention and felt a bit frustrated that I couldn't link/hop to the bloggers' websites. I thought you didn't do it to stop me following one part-way through reading your text. So here's a suggestion: pop them at the bottom of the article. In time I'll be educated to look for them and it encourages me to read the whole thing.
Hope you like this idea.
